Currently the lead violinist of the highly sought after Philadelphia String Quartet, Nastasja Vojinović is an award-winning violinist who is equally brilliant in classical and in pop music. Her work ranges from recitals in some of the greatest classical music venues, through collaborations with bands such as Ljubičice and Killiam Shakespeare, to busy performance seasons with the PSQ, year after year.

Nastasja began her elementary and music education in Montenegro, and then continued in Belgrade, Serbia, at the department for highly gifted students at the Music School “Kosta Manojlovic“. At the age of 16, she enrolled in undergraduate studies for music performance at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, in the studio of Gordana Matijevic Nedeljkovic. Upon earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Belgrade, she moved to Philadelphia where she earned another Master’s as well as a Professional Studies Certificate in music performance in the studio of Dr. Eduard Schmieder. In 2021 she graduated from the Mannes School of Music in New York, where she attended Professional Studies with Professor Wen Qian, assistant concertmaster of the MET. 

As a youngster she became a member of the distinguished Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Borislav Pašćan, with whom she has many times appeared as concertmaster and soloist on the main stage of the National Theatre in Belgrade. Soon upon enrolling in college, she joined the acclaimed Belgrade Strings Dušan Skovran. Throughout the years as a member, she performed numerous concerts with the Belgrade Strings across Serbia, touring Croatia and Slovenia. In 2013 she performed as soloist with the Belgrade Strings in the Grand Hall of Kolarac Foundation. She toured Germany and Poland with the Penderecki Music Academy symphony orchestra. Other ensembles include Belgrade Symphony and Makris Symphony Orchestra.

Among the many renowned venues where Nastasja has performed throughout her extensive music career are the Belgrade jewels such as the Artget Gallery of the Cultural Centre, Grand Hall of the Music School Stankovic, Gallery of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Guarnerius Art Centre, Grand Hall and Gallery of the Kolarac Foundation, as well as those across the region — Grand Hall of the Cultural Center Banski Dvor in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Cultural Centers “Budo Tomović” in Podgorica (Montenegro), Bolshoi Music Festival in Mokra Gora (Serbia), “Vatroslav Lisinski” in Zagreb (Croatia). Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center in New York City, and some of Philadelphia’s finest Temple — Performing Arts Center, Verizon Hall of Kimmel Center, Pennsylvania Academy of Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rodin Museum, Barnes Foundation, etc.

Nastasja took part in some of the top music festivals such as KotorArt and White Field Jazz Festival in Montenegro, SUMMIT Music Festival in New York, and has won many medals and awards including first prizes at the International Competition of Young Violinists in Barletta (Italy), International Violin Competition “Petar Toškov” (Serbia), Stringfest (Serbia), second prize at the International Competition Petar Konjović, third prize at the International Competition Alexander Glazunov in Paris (France), honorary mention of the first degree at The International Violin Competition Jaroslav Kocian, (Usti nad Orlice, Czech Republic). She competed in the Chamber Music category in an ensemble with the prominent pianist Sonja Marković, winning first prizes at the National Competition of Serbia, International Competition Davorin Jenko (Belgrade, Serbia), and at the International Competition Donne in Musica (Kragujevac, Serbia). With her longtime string quartet “Vae Soli” she won the first prize at the Stringfest competition in Serbia. Nastasja’s first performance in the US as a soloist – at the competition Young Classical Virtuosos of Tomorrow (2017) brought her a Gold medal. She was awarded the Hellen Kwalwasser Prize for excellence in the study of a stringed instrument at Temple University for the 2017/18 year.

Nastasja participated in masterclasses with professors Vladislav Bobić, Blagorodna Taneva, Regina Brandstatter, Eduard Schmieder, Zoran Milenkovic, Dejan Bogdanovic, Timur Melnik, Vesna Stanković, Stefan Milenković, Roman Simović, Pavel Vernikov, Eszter Haffner, Ulf Wallin, Benjamin Schmid, and others.
